There is a Cosworth on ebay with VIN 1V77E5U218612 . This is a V-8
conversion and has extensive fiberglass spoilers and wings and things.
The question is that I seem to have seen this car before, or I may be
confusing it with IMSA? Monzas or else?

Anybody know the car or can run the VIN?

Gerry

Hey Gerry, I don't have that one in the database but if I was a
betting man, I would say that VIN is off dash # 0656. Let me know if
you find out any more info on it. I looked on Ebay but I didn't see
it. Chris

I forgot to paste in the link.

By the way, the cosworthvega.com VIN decoder gave me the following:

Thank You, Here Are The Decode Results
The VIN Tag information you provided decodes as follows:
1 V 7 7 E 5 U 2 1 8 6 1 2

This Tag is/was originally affixed to a 1975 Chevrolet Motor Division
Vega body assembled at Lordstown, OH. The Lordstown factory installed
a Cosworth Vega engine that had been assembled in Tonawanda, NY into
this body. It then built this vehicle as a Cosworth Vega model.

It was the number 118612 Vega built for this production year.

The Lower Left Corner of the BODY TAG of this car should read:
218612C.

That is why I didn't find it. It was listed as a GT. That is
interesting that someone took the time to put a GT dash bezel and
horn button in the car. I have no record of that car but there was a
76 Cosworth #2150 that Bob Maloy did that had an IMSA body kit on it
that you might be thinking of. There is also an early V-8 Vega on
Ebay right now that has an IMSA body kit on it out here in CA. Chris

Chris

There was another Cosworth that has a Hooker body kit. It was a one
page article in Hot Rod(?), were the owner crunched the front end and
decided to install a Hooker kit. It was a 1975 Cosworth and I believe
that owner was in Ohio.

Bob, I am not sure if this is the one that you are referring to but
there was an article in the July 85 issue of Car Craft about a guy
named Steve Walker that had an IMSA Cosworth. He had hit a tree and
opted to put on the body kit and it had a 75 front end although it
had 76 tail lights. I am guessing he hit the tree in the front and
decided to use the 75 style front end for his repair. I don't think
that is the same car as the one on Ebay. Mainly due to 2 facts, the
one on Ebay has 75 tail lights and has the fuel filler on the top of
the flare where the one in Car Craft had the filler still in the side
of the quarter.
There was another IMSA Cosworth that I found out about that was a 76
green/buckskin car. The body got rusty and they chopped it up.
If there was another one in Hot Rod, please let me know so that I can
update my records. Later, Chris
