Hi,
I have a 1974 vega with a 12 bolt posi. and I'm looking to replace
the rear coil springs. One side is very weak and sagging and I need
tire clearance (275/50-15). I was wondering if anybody would have any
suggestions on what type of springs I should get. I was told to pick
up a set from an early 70's station wagon but I'm not sure if those
would do the trick. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
Mike

H-bodies have two different rear spring rates - 130 and 155 pounds per
inch, and each was available in several overall lengths to satsify
ride high requiresments based on vehicle weight.

The CV uses the 155 rate, but it's not clear to me what other H-bodies
used this higher rate - maybe only the Monza Spyder. Station wagon
rear springs might be slightly longer OA height to achieve proper ride
height due to more rear weight, but they are probably the base 130
rate.

Moog make a one size fits all rear spring for H-bodies,p/n 6377, and
it has a specifed rate of 141 lbs/in. Rather than taking a chance on
a used spring of unknown rate and condition, I'd recommend you buy two
of these Moog springs.
