OK. Not a cache problem? Did you clear your cache?
Nobody has responded that they tried that and still get the same problem.

I believe that Windows 7 ships with Internet Explorer 8.
You were probably using IE 6 previously and now are experiencing problems with IE 8.

Testing ... Nope. I don't experience those problems when using IE 8 on a Windows 7 device. I am typing this in Firefox which is what I use all of the time.
I avoid IE as much as possible.

Uh..... I wouldn't even begin to know how to do that.
Occasionally, I do a disk clean up from the Windows utility under accessories, System Tools ,etc and then a disk defrag. I also run a Norton scan periodically.
I've been doing this for years with my first computer using Windows Millenium and this computer which uses Vista..... until the board update a few weeks ago.

Looks like I need to be google-ing how to clear my cache...... Back later.

Not a cache problem.... I guess. I found that I have version IE9..... deleted browser history, cookies, etc. Still does it.

IE? What is this IE you speak of?

Starting with IE8, I actually had vendors give me a patch to prevent an upgrade to 8 and higher. It's interaction with their site protocols was that bad.

I play with all the others except chrome: firefox, safari and opera.

Ok, I see it.

The screen goes black when the next page is loading.

It appears to be a new feature of the latest phpbb. I only see it in IE 9 (I normally use Firefox).

I almost never use IE 9 so my cookies/cache/etc are fairly clean, so I don't think it's an issue with those.

I will see if this "feature" can be disabled...

I have also had problems with the site downloading over the past couple of weeks. I don't get a black screen, it just says it can't find the server. I'm using Safari.

"Can't find server" is a different issue. Could be that the site really was down (or at capacity--capacity varies because it's a shared server). Could be something wrong intermittently with any of the hundreds of pieces of networking equipment between your computer and the web site. Hard to tell.

I am pretty sure that this is an IE 9- issue. I had the same before and downgraded back to IE 8- then no problems (Win 7)...

i get the gray screen as well just since the upgrade of the board. my question is if it was on my end why would other sites and message boards do it. never understood the complaints about IE (or windows for that matter) both seem to work fine.

Get me a screenshot, if you can. There are two ways to do this.

1) Hit the "PRT SCRN" button on your keyboard when you see the error. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint. With Paint open, click on Edit > Paste. Save the document as a BMP, JPG, or GIF. Email the picture to copseth (at) gmail.com. Don't forget to change (at) in my instructions to an @. A BMP or GIF will be too large for your account on HBO to attach.

2) When you are on the page that has the error click on Start. In the Start menu enter Snipping Tool. Launch the program. Choose the area you want to snip (or choose the whole desktop). Save the image and email it to copseth (at) gmail.com. Don't forget to change (at) in my instructions to an @.

I am a member of other forums and this is the only website it does this on. I just checked the other 3 and no problems.
