Bought a new Toy, it was built in Lordstown

Postby cammerjeff » Fri Nov 05, 2021 9:15 am

Picked up a 67 Sprint Firebird, but don't have it home yet. Below is a link to BAT auction I was high Bidder on, but reserve not met. Made a deal yesterday to actually purchase the car.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967- ... rebird-36/

Solid California car loaded with options for a Sprint. 4-speed manual, A/C, Power Steering, Hood Tach, Custom Interior, Rally II wheels, & rear mounted antenna. Paid to much for it IMO, but with the clean Body & interior, plus working A/C I really wanted it, even if it does have a Blue interior (my wife hates blur & green interiors) What do you all think?

It sort of has an H-Body connection as the U in the VIN indicates it was built in the Lordstown Ohio assembly plant.

Nice! It looks to have been kept in very good condition. I actually like the blue interior myself!

That should make for one very nice grocery-getter!

Thanks all,

As for driving them all I had neglected to update my signature in awhile, I no longer own a few of those, and 2 of the remaining ones are not drivable due to my lazyness.

What a beauty!!! Congrats.
I imagine the Sprint 6500 rpm redline hood tach is pretty hard to come by.

So it appears you've since updated your Sig. So that means you liquidated your previous 3.8L OHC Firebird (Sprint?) That car was pretty nice as I recall, I thought you were a die-hard OHC guy "CammerJeff"  Or was that one sacrificed for this one? I always admired those but never managed to get my @$$ in one even for a ride. So did you thin out some "Long rooves" as well? Harry

Believe it or not I actually have a good spare 67 Sprint hood tach in my stash!

And yes Harry I did sell my 69 Bird with the stroker motor a couple of years ago.

Well the new to me Bird is in the driveway, and I am in Springhill TN for work! It arrived unexpectedly Saturday so my Wife and her Father took delivery of it for me. My Father inlaw took it for a short test drive, and he says the only thing that doesn't work is the hood tach, it reads 900 rpm no matter what. Not surprising to me as the seller would not answer my question about how well it worked with the vintage high energy ignition system installed in the car.
She sent me a picture of almost all my smaller toys parked in the driveway!

Thanks

I am mostly happy with the car, the body, paint, & interior all seem to be original as claimed. But imagine a dealer not being forthcoming with issues! The only one that really irks me is both rear wheel cylinders are shot, and the rear of the master cylinder was dry when the car was delivered. The brakes barely stop the car! The rest of the non working items like the highbeams, radio, and tach don't bother me as much. Just little old car issues. But the lack of a driving video on BAT came clear. Also the seller never answering my question about the hood tack!

But it is a very solid good looking car
