This makes it easy to prime the bowl on the carb and also provides some security sorta and retains the factory safety circuit.

Is it NOT normal for the fuel pump to energize upon turning the keyswitch to "ON" before start key position to pressurize the fuel system? I was just discussing this tonight as we planned our forward march to finish my vega project. I am wired with the oil switch using the stock 74 engine bay harness w/ac. I can expect no ignition until the motor spins and makes 3-5 psi to close the switch to energize the fuel pump? Get me on the right track please...thanks in advance.

The fuel pump circuit operation is explained here: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=45520

Fuel pump does not run with key on and engine not running, hence the reason for this mod. Ignition power to distributor not involved

Yes, it's NOT normal for the fuel pump to pump by just turning the key to RUN. Check your wiring to the oil pressure switch, somebody may have jumped it out already. It's quite common in the hot rod world but defeats the factory safety.
