140 HIPO motor fresh

Postby Badassvega » Tue Oct 06, 2009 8:46 pm

Guess it's time to sell off my baby. I have a completely fresh 140 ready for final assembly. I've spent many years researching everything and been playing with these things, but it's time to let this project go.
It's a steel sleeved standard bore block or as GM sold it a 'fitted' block
SBC rods (same as stock Vega, but rumored to be better than the Vega) with ARP bolts and TRW forged pistons part number L2400
76-77 oil pump as that was the best for flow/pressure.
Completely redone 1974 soild lifter head. New valve guides, valves, springs matched to the cam, some good porting done in the bowls, and the Crower 286-F compu-pro cam: Intake duration 286 lift .477 Exhaust duration 294 lift .490. The head has about 2.5K miles on it. The first motor i build had an oiling issue as the HIPO motors did and it killed the stock block by boiling the oil and cooking the cylinder walls on a non sleeved block. It ran out very well over 3000 and had plenty of power up to 7000!
Stock HEI distributor with MSD electronics, Accel HEI coil mounted to the block.
Offy 4bbl intake with the adaptor plate with a holley 450 carb.
Braided fuel line from the carb to a pressure regulator that mounts on the firewall and a short fuel line that hooks up to the stock line mounted on the firewall.
Brand new header
The only thing missing is the top compression rings. Stock Vega top compression rings are 5/32" and the pistons require 1/16" rings. I have new rings, but you will need to get a set that are 1/16 thick....no problems getting them, I just haven't.
That's all I can think of now, but its all disassembled ready for inspection. I have multiples of gaskets to finish assembly and many extra motor parts that I can include plus a few extra complete motors.
I need to get $1400 for the motor, but remember this is a fresh motor, for that price I will also include one of the highly sought after aluminum valve cover!
I can get pics for anyone that is interested. I live just east of Milwaukee WI. Shipping will be a pain in the butt, but if needed I will do my best. I'm willing to meet you part way if needed.

Hope it's ok to bump that back to the top with a few pictures.
I'd really like to sell this, there's been way to many decent deals on Vega's here and springs coming and I think it's been long enough since i've owned a decent driver....and selling this will help me get there

Bringing this back to the top.
1200 or good offer and it can be yours. Trying to raise money for my Cosworth and selling some regular Vega parts and pieces to fund.

Just a quick note. In the first posting it says the engine has SBC rods, those are not the same as Vega's. Vega's have a wider big end, the same as Chevy straight 6 rods. SBC's allow some back and forth movement on the crank.
