Automatic to 4/5 std conversion help

Postby T-FATTY » Fri Sep 14, 2018 6:14 pm

What do I need for the swap besides trans, clutch flywheel pressure plate and pedals? What would be easier, mechanical or hydraulic? I would think the mechanical would be easier? What bell housing do I need?
Thanks.

You also need a shifter and mounting plate, clutch cable, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, correct shifter linkage (different engines had longer or shorter rods).

Plus you might need the transmission cross member, driveshaft and torque arm, especially if you go 5 speed because as far as I know the 5 speed transmission is longer than the 4 speed and automatics. There is a post in the wanted section that lists all the various transmission/driveshaft and torque arm combinations.

That is a 4 cyl bellhousing but will work by cutting off the mounting tab that is in the 10 o'clock position. These are often misrepresented as V8 bellhousings.
